ND Academy offers an exploratory Spanish program for students in the Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme.
Spanish classes for Pre-K4 through 4th grade students take place twice per week (each 30 minute sessions with transition). Lessons are introductory and build a foundation in early Spanish skills. Cultural studies bring the language learning to life. The Spanish program is expanded for grades 5th through 9th, enhancing students' skills in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and translating.
The program is content-enriched supporting each grades PYP Units of Inquiry and general classroom learning. With years of consecutive studies, students should continue future foreign language studies with an advantage. The curriculum is spiraling with continuous addition of new material, review, and extension through the years.
ND Academy offers a French
program for students starting in grade 7 that follows the Middle Years Programme.
Students participate in interactive classes where they learn how to navigate real-life scenarios using the language. The program develops all four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Throughout the program, students learn about French culture as well as the Francophone world, which adds greater depth to their study of the language.
