Tools for growing young minds
Smart Classrooms assimilate advanced educational technology into the curriculum. Smart Classrooms expand the options available to teachers for presenting information. Each teacher is provided with a laptop computer that will interact with the Smart Classroom, which is equipped with a Smart Board (interactive white board) and an LCD projector. The Smart Board allows the teacher and the student to interact with content in a visual way, and the LCD projector expands the resources available to the teacher by opening the Internet to the entire class. Integration of websites into the instructional program expands the classroom outside the four walls of the building.
Smart Classrooms provide the following benefits to students:

  • Increase motivation
  • Create a learner-centered environment
  • Allow integration of media elements
  • Support collaborative learning

Notre Dame Academy also places emphasis on students becoming technically adept at a young age. As such, Pre-K students at the Early Years Campus use the IBM Young Explorers Workstations to learn concepts and skills that augment the PYP units of inquiry.

Further, "Partner in Technology" computer centers are in all Kindergarten through 5th Grade classrooms. Middle School students have a dedicated computer room for Study Hall and working on special projects.

Due to the generosity of Naming Opportunity donors, Smart Boards and "Partner in Technology" computer centers have been installed in most classrooms, enabling children in all grade levels to benefit.
