ADMINISTRATION

Ms. Debra Orr, Head of School
Ms. Orr has worked in education for more than 20 years. She started in the public school system in DeKalb County and later moved to St. Pius X, where she worked as a teacher and had some part-time administrative duties. Later Ms. Orr was called to help open Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, and then she was recruited to launch Pinecrest Academy’s High School. Ms. Orr has a Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist from Georgia State and a Master's Add-on for Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia.

Mrs. Julia Derucki, Principal, Upper Elementary and Middle School
Mrs. Derucki has spent 23 years teaching and working exclusively in Catholic schools in Indiana, Florida, and Georgia. She has taught 2nd-8th Grade, with 11 consecutive years teaching 4th grade. She also served in administrative positions, including Dean of Students at a K-8th inner-city school and Dean of Academics. Mrs. Derucki piloted the NDA 8th Grade Annual “International Trip” and has traveled with the students to Japan, Italy, France, Spain, and Ireland.  She is a member of the NCE, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and was nominated by parents for both the Atlanta Journal and Constitution (AJC) Teacher of the Year in 2002 and Disney’s Teacher of the Year in 2003. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ball State University, graduate courses in Educational Leadership from Indiana University-Purdue University Institute, and a Master of Science in Education with honors from Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL.

Mr. Gary Hegarty, Director of Finance
Prior to joining Notre Dame Academy, Mr. Hegarty spent 20 years as a Management/Financial Consultant, interspersed with Company Directorships in Europe. His past experience includes Audit/Accounting/Consulting experience in Ireland and the USA with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has a 1st class honours Degree in Commerce from UCC and a Post Graduate Degree in Finance from UCD in Ireland. Mr. Hegarty is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. He was also one of the founding Executive Committee Members of Ireland Chamber of Commerce USA [ICCUSA] for the southeast United States, based in Atlanta.

Ms. Molly Hole, Interim Principal, Early Years and Lower Elementary and Director of Admissions
Ms. Hole taught for 11 years in both Georgia and Ohio.  She taught students in Pre-K - 8th grade with the majority of her teaching experience in third and fourth grade.  Ms. Hole was recognized as the Sam's Club Teacher of the Year. She comes to NDA from a phonics-based reading company where she was the Associate Director.  Ms. Hole has completed levels I, II, and III of the International Baccalaureate Certification Program.  She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.

Mr. John Meurer, Director of Facilities
Mr. John Meurer is a mechanical engineer with over 30 years experience in corporate facilities management. He previously was employed by Rare Hospitality and Ruby Tuesdays. Mr. Meurer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville. He is a retired Navy Captain.

Mrs. Stacy Stanford, Director of Advancement
Mrs. Stanford joined Notre Dame Academy after spending nine years in Sales Management and Marketing at a large Atlanta-based corporation.  She not only brings a business perspective to her role in the Advancement office, but also a strong passion to enhance the "NDA experience" for our students, parents, faculty and staff.  Mrs. Stanford is a graduate of Marist School in Atlanta and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree from The University of Georgia.
