The mission of the College Counseling Office is to help students make informed educational choices by leading them through a four-year informational process rooted in and aligned with the Notre Dame Academy Mission Statement. They re called to be active participants and asked to make meaningful connections, educationally and personally, in this journey.
While being accepted at a college or university that matches the student’s educational, social, geographic and financial needs is vital, the most crucial role I have as College Counselor is a very personalized one. I will guide the students through a process of self-exploration so they may learn more about themselves and help each student discover his or her true passion. I will assist the students in creating a positive vision for their future before they move on to the next more independent phase of their lives. The goal is to help students articulate their interests, skills, values, abilities, personal style and vision and link them to their choice of colleges and possible majors.
Our journey together will begin in the ninth grade helping each student understand the PSAT results and what part the scores play in their application process. In tenth and eleventh grades I will talk to students about their college goals, all the while offering knowledgeable advice and attention to detail in order to ensure a timely and successful process.
