Weekly Athletic Update: November 15, 2018

Senior Night!

Come out to our first varsity basketball home games on Friday, November 30th to support our football and athletic training seniors, as we recognize their commitment and legacy to their respective sports! They will be recognized in between the girls and boys varsity games against The Paideia School! We are excited to see you all there supporting our basketball teams and our seniors!

Fall Athletic Banquet

We will be hosting our Fall Athletic Banquet on Sunday, December 16th at 5pm in The George Student Center cafeteria! This banquet is for all 6th - 12th participants in football, volleyball, athletic training, and cross country! All student-athletes eat free and families will be billed a $12 fee to their Smart Tuition account. We look forward to having a great showing at our Fall Athletic Banquet and honoring our student-athletes!

First Swimming Meet Tomorrow!

Tomorrow marks the official beginning our swimming season! Good luck to Coach Jenny, Coach Lee, Coach Link, Coach Wilson and all of our swimmers as they try to lap the competition!

Spring Sports are right around the corner!

First NAML Home Games Today!

Come out and supprt out girls and boys NAML basketball teams on our home court at THE GEORGE as they take on Cornerstone Christian. The girls begin at 4pm and the boys play at 5pm!

Weekly Athletic Update (November 8th, 2018)
Thank you to all who attended the Winter Sports Meeting!
A big thank you to all the student-athletes and parents who attended Tuesday nights Winter Sports meeting! It was very well attended and all of the athletic department staff is looking forward to a great winter sports season!

CMLA Basketball in full swing!
Last Saturday was our first week of CMLA here on campus. It was great to see all 4 of our teams in action, learning to love the game of basketball and to wear the Irish colors with pride!

Varsity Cheerleading coming to campus!
If you are interested in cheering for varsity basketball this upcoming season, please see Coach Campbell. The new varsity cheerleading team has already had their first practice and they want more cheerleaders! This could be your way to show your school spirit and get involved in athletics!

6th Grade Teams playing well in Wesleyan League
Both of our boys and girls 6th grade teams got their start this past Saturday in the Wesleyan League. The boys won their first game by a sizable margin and were led by a number of players, including London Merritt. The girls team played hard in their game as well, and look to make great progress next week!

NAML Basketball Teams in Action Next Week!
Both middle school teams begin their seasons at home v. Cornerstone Cougars on Thursday, November 15th! The girls play at 4pm and the boys at 5pm. Come out and support your NAML Basketball teams!

Mark your calendars!

The first varsity double-header at home is on Friday, November 30th! Both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams take on GHSA Single A independent school, The Paideia School. In between the two games, we will be honoring the football and athletic training seniors from the fall!

Weekly Athletic Update (Thursday, October 25)

Congratulations to the Volleyball Team!

Both our JV and Varsity volleyball teams concluded their seasons recently and had great experiences. The JV Volleyball team concluded a great season of growth and development. We are excited for the girls to keep growing from their 5 wins this season! Our Varsity team concluded a great season with a run to the GISA AAA State Tournament, winning their first 2 matches, advancing to the Final Four! The girls lost to to the eventual state champions but fought hard the entire time! Congratulation to all the girls who played volleyball this year and thank you to Coach Shock and Coach J for leading these girls during the season.

Irish Cross Country Developing a Winning Tradition

What a season for both of our Middle School and Upper School Cross Country teams! The Varsity Cross Country team is preparing for the GISA State Meet on this Saturday. They are led by 10th grader Sydney Whalen who qualified for the State Meet by placing 7th in Regionals! Our Boys Cross Country team also qualified for the State Meet by placing 3rd as a team. They are led by 8th grader Matthew Lemons, among others. Matthew Lemons was also the GISA State Champion in the MS State Cross Country Meet, and Jonathan Waters placed 2nd in that same meet. Great job Sydney, Matthew, and Jonathan!

Senior Night for Football and Sport Medicine on Friday, October 26th!

Come out and support our 4 Irish Football Seniors, as well as our 3 Sport Medicine Seniors as they participate in their last home football game this Friday! Kickoff is at 4pm on the brand new athletic field and the Senior Night Festivities will begin around 3:45pm. We are so excited for this first group of seniors to be recognized for all you have done for our school community. You are a part of our Irish family forever! We hope to see you out there supporting our seniors and football team!

Mandatory Winter Sports Meeting

On Tuesday, November 6th, there will be a MANDATORY Winter Sports Meeting for all students and parents who are playing NAML, JV, or Varsity sports for the Irish. The meeting will begin at 7pm and will start in the gym. You will then breakout and meet with your respective coaches. The meetings should last around an hour to an hour and half.

Winter Tip Off Dinner

On Thursday, November 8th, we will be hosting a Winter Tip Off Dinner! Anyone is welcome to attend this event that will include addresses from some of winter head coaches, as well as Coach Campbell and a guest speaker. This event also begins at 7pm! RSVP information to follow.

Calling all Middle School Girls!

Any middle school girls interested in playing basketball for the Irish should see Coach J in the gym as soon as possible. We are looking for a few more girls who are interested in learning to play basketball and be a part of a great experience for the Irish!

Do you have spirit and want to support the Irish Athletic Teams?

We are in the beginning stages of forming an upper school cheerleading team, from 8th grade through 12th. If you are interested in helping start the cheerleading program, please see Coach Campbell.

Swimming begins Sunday!

Irish Swimming to begin Sunday! If you are interested in splashing your way onto the swimming team, please see Coach Jenny as soon as possible.

Basketball is underway!

With the fall cold snap, we also have all of our basketball teams underway! CMLA has been practicing for the last few weeks, all of our middle school teams have begun practicing, and our Varsity girls started practicing this week! Next week, we will have all of our teams practicing when the varsity boys take to the practice courts! We look forward to having everyone protecting our home court at "THE GEORGE!"

Weekly Athletic Update (Wednesday, Oct. 17)

This Friday, October 19th is a big day for Irish Wolfhound Athletics!

Our Girls Volleyball Team (REGION CHAMPS!) begin their quest for a state title on Friday, October 19th at The Heritage School in Newnan by taking on St. George Episcopal School at 10am in their first round game. If they win this game, they go on to the State Quarterfinal Match at 4pm! We are so proud of you girls!

Home Football Game - Friday Afternoon at the Athletic Fields

The Varsity Football team takes on Creekside Christian Academy at 4pm on the brand new athletic fields! Come out and support our football team as they take the field this Friday afternoon!
