What is the impact?
Through a generous donation from the George Family and a gift from the Sophia Academy Board of Trustees following the merger between the two schools and the sale of their former facility, Notre Dame Academy will reduce its debt by $1.5M. In addition to reducing debt, a portion of the Sophia Academy gift will be used to support the Father Colin Program and an additional sum will be used for campus maintenance. Using these funds in this manner will allow ND Academy to continue to provide high quality services to the entire ND Academy community.
Expand the Irish Nation:
As ND Academy has grown, so has the need to expand our athletic offerings. Proceeds from the merger with Sophia Academy will be used to build a multipurpose athletic field on the Notre Dame Academy campus. Plans are currently in place for construction on the field to begin in early spring 2018. Our first home football game has been scheduled for September 28, 2018.
The Next Steps:
In addition to a field suitable for football, lacrosse and soccer, we need an athletic complex that includes a track and a baseball/softball field. Our goal is ambitious, but it represents the reality of today’s competitive Atlanta-area athletic environment. To support our current student-athletes and to continue to attract top students, it is important that we maintain an environment of support and encouragement. This environment, paired with modern facilities and resources will help us in our quest for excellence
Why does it matter?
Through the Expand the Irish Nation Campaign, we are on a mission to expand our athletic facilities for our nearly 600 students. Notre Dame Academy has offered excellence in the classroom since 2005. NOW we are ready to take our athletics program to the next level. Your gifts in support of this campaign will provide facilities for our student-athletes, allowing athletes to excel in the classroom and on the field.
"The addition of a full athletic complex would enable our students to be a part of something big and it would give them a sense of pride in what we have at Notre Dame Academy."
