Counseling

At Notre Dame Academy, we offer a variety of counseling opportunities for our students. We have a school counselor on staff to assist and support our students' development. We also have a college counselor to guide our Upper School students in their college application and decision process.

School Counseling

Notre Dame Academy's school counselor supports students in their personal, social, academic, and career development. This is accomplished through both proactive and responsive services that include individual meetings with students as well as classroom and group interventions that promote the holistic development of students and support the mission of Notre Dame Academy.

Through faculty collaboration and a review of school community feedback, the school counseling program assesses student needs and addresses these through planned school interventions.

The Notre Dame Academy School Counseling Program additionally supports the focus of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) through helping students explore their IB course options and by helping students and parents understand university recognition of IB coursework.

College Counseling

The mission of the College Counseling Office is to help students make informed educational choices by leading them through a four-year informational process rooted in and aligned with the Notre Dame Academy Mission Statement. They are called to be active participants and asked to make meaningful connections, educationally and personally, in this journey.

While being accepted at a college or university that matches the student’s educational, social, geographic, and financial needs is vital, the most crucial role I have as College Counselor is a very personalized one. I will guide the students through a process of self-exploration so they may learn more about themselves and help each student discover his or her true passion. I will assist the students in creating a positive vision for their future before they move on to the next more independent phase of their lives. The goal is to help students articulate their interests, skills, values, abilities, personal style and vision and link them to their choice of colleges and possible majors.

Our journey together will begin in the ninth grade helping each student understand the PSAT results and what part the scores play in their application process. In tenth and eleventh grades I will talk to students about their college goals, all the while offering knowledgeable advice and attention to detail in order to ensure a timely and successful process.
